Forgiving One's Self

Author: Nick Arrizza, M.D.

Has anything ever happened in your life that you continue to blame or punish yourself for? If so this is the same as saying that you are having trouble forgiving yourself for it.

What is the purpose of going on punishing yourself for whatever you have been blaming yourself for? This is likely a question you have never asked. The reason I say this is that had you considered it you would have already stopped the self blame and the self punishment.

Let me explain.

Many believe "unconsciously" that the purpose of going on blaming and punishing one's self for past transgressions is so that:

One will not forget the transgression, so that,

The next time they will not commit it again, so that,

They can make the right decisions, so that,

They can feel good i.e. happy, at peace, good about themselves, blame free, a sense of relief, and a sense of self worth.

In other words many believe "unconsciously" that going on punishing one's self, or alternatively not forgiving one's self, makes one feel happy, at peace, good about themselves, blame free, a sense of relief, and a sense of self worth.

Does that feel right to you?

Highly unlikely, correct?

Do you recognize however that that is what you have believed unconsciously?

If so, do you want to go on harboring that kind of toxicity inside you?

Do you recognize the toxic effects of going on punishing yourself i.e. not forgiving yourself? If not just go back to the self punishment and notice what it feels like to be there.

You'll likely notice that it makes you feel horrible, like a horrible, worthless human being who deserves to be exterminated.

Now is that toxic or not?

If you are feeling surprisingly inspired by some of the interesting changes that you may be experiencing in your body from this discussion you may wish to visit the web link below and listen to the very special message I have posted for you there.
