Motivation - No Money Involved

Author: Hans Bool

Motivation is about moving. Trying to move yourself into the right direction. The question is: in what direction and what is right? Normally you follow a daily pattern. The market pressure is always high and stress is luring on you. Always ready to seduce.

A simple way to motivate others is to give them positive feedback and to set an example. When motivating people, you sort of act in the role of an advisor; you suggest people to move into a certain direction: the goal. However what goal should they pursue?

If you are to be your own advisor, a first step in (motivational) advising could be to take some distance.

Traveling is a way of taking distance. You literally go away for a certain period in which you are connecting with new situations and outdistancing home and work (if you can).

The distance will help you to perceive more accurately. What are your goals in life and are you heading in that direction?

Traveling, however, costs time and probably money. Second option than: read a book. Brake with you daily rituals and stay at home for a day or two. Look for a book that you have on the self unattended, or visit a library or bookshop. Or even visit the internet and do not search for words but let your cursor flow.

Dont stay away too long. It is about refreshing your memory. It is about looking back and realizing that you have done well.

Breaking the pattern for less than a week, or even for a day, should give you enough energy to continue for years.
