The Pittsburgh Steelers did what few thought was possible and that is get to the conference championship game as a number 6 seed. They are the first team to do so. The Steelers have already won two hard fought road games in this year's quest for the ring and will need another one against the Denver Broncos to reach the Superbowl. The Broncos have an incredible home field advantage due to their altitude and as a result, the Steelers could have trouble. The Steelers are 7-3 this season on the road including the playoffs but the Broncos are a perfect 9-0 at home. The Broncos did not have an easy path this season, however, having to play against tough competition from the San Diego Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Playing in your third consecutive road game is not easy and the legitimacy of the Steelers this season will be tested. Both teams love to rush the ball but that plays into the strength of the opposition as both teams defend the rush pretty well. The Broncos and Steelers are the second and third best rush defenses in the league respectively. They are also the second and fifth best rushing offenses respectively. This game is going to come down to the passing game. The Broncos have the better passing attack but their passing defense is near the bottom of the league in passing yards allowed per game. If the Steelers are going to win their third road playoff game in a row this season, they are going to have to get a big game from Big Ben. Watching him against the Colts, there is no reason to believe he cannot come through. |
