California has hundreds of great beaches that are just waiting for you to enjoy. If you are in the Los Angeles area, you should consider stopping by Avalon Bay. It will be a unique experience. Avalon Bay is a popular manmade beach located in of course, Avalon California. Avalon is located on a small island called Catalina Island just south of Los Angeles. To get to the beach you will have to take one of several ferries that serve the island. Once you arrive in the beautiful bay, you will find the beach to the south of the pier. While there are other small beaches in the area, Avalon Bay is the only one that has lifeguards in attendance which is a big plus if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. There are dozens of things to do on the beach. Activities include snorkeling, parasailing, kayaking, swimming and hiking on nearby trails. You will find the rental prices for kayaks and snorkeling gear reasonable and the equipment is readily available from several vendors. So if you are looking for something different to do this weekend or find yourself with some extra time, check out Avalon Bay beach.
