Alberta is a Land of Contrasts

Author: Shawn Everett

If you're looking for your next vacation spot, why not take a look at Alberta? Alberta is one of the provinces of Canada and has something to offer everyone. There are national parks, major shopping malls, world famous rodeos and much more! Weather you're looking for a relaxing getaway or a busy metropolis, Alberta can help you find it.

One of the most famous attractions is Jasper National Park. The park is located in the Rocky Mountains between British Columbia and Alberta. It is home to a wide range of wild life including mountain sheep, bears, wolves, elk and mountain goats. Not far away is the Columbia Icefield. Left over from the ice age this mighty glacier is slowly receding.

If you're interested in shopping the Edmonton can't be beat. Edmonton is home to the West Edmonton Mall. The mall, is currently the largest shopping and entertainment center in the world. It has nearly 8000 shops, with that many stores you'll surely find something that interests you.

Edmonton is also the capital of Alberta and home to the University of Alberta. Both locations are impressive and well worth visiting.

The last stop on our tour of Alberta is Calgary. Calgary is home to the world famous Calgary Stampede. The Stampede includes a rodeo, amusement park. chuck-wagon races, concerts and more. It's an amazing event, held for one week every summer in Calgary. Calgary was also host to the 1988 Winter Olympics. The facilities that remain, provide athletes around the world with training facilities.

I hope this very brief look at Alberta has teased you enough to learn more. I have covered three of the most popular destinations but there are many many more places in Alberta to visit. Take the time to find the place that best suits your tastes and lifestyle.
