Center Retirement; Continuing Care Retirement Community.

Author: Thomas G. Holmshaw

The Continuing Care Retirement Community (which I will now refer to as CCRC) is not just another institution, it's a carefully planned out and caring home for the elderly to, if they so wish and depending on their chosen lifestyles, live in a thoughtfully conceived residential community with an environment that caters for their every wish. With differing services varying from total nursing care through semi-assisted residence and also full independent living, all depending on the health and mobility of each individual. CCRC's are increasingly gaining more and more recognition because of the vast and personalised services that they can now offer. The flexibility of the system is perfectly suited to the ever changing needs of the elderly, with the advantage that every possible eventuality can be catered for, without the stress of relocation or being alone and isolated.

Probably the most comforting of the wide and varied facilities provided in the CCRC is the peace of mind brought about by the secure and tranquil settings along with specialised services and support for the residents at all times.

Most senior citizens decide to opt for the CCRC contract whilst they are fit, healthy and mobile, knowing full well that, should their circumstances change, then all will be covered in times of sickness or ill health, and they will be cared for in the family atmosphere to which they are accustomed.

The choice of accommodation varies; the more independent seniors can chose from single or double family homes within the complex, or as times become more difficult, such as every day chores that up until now have always been taken for granted, then the option is there for assisted living, but with the advantage of all being in the same complex.

It goes without saying that many senior citizens have lived a life devoted to a particular religion or belief or sport or whatever! and they want to live in a community that shares these desires; there are CCRC's that may be sponsored by supporting organizations.

More seniors are choosing CCRC's as their retirement homes. After a lifetime of toil, a secure warm and caring community is what they now desire.
